Karlijn de Lange is a visual artist, based in Rotterdam and Antwerp. Her work harbors fragmented recollections of the United States deserts as she explores the boundaries between landscape and abstraction, materialized through color pencil drawings and oil paintings. She reimagines a vast phenomenal space, often through the aerial point of view in which perceptions of space and distance are challenged. Her strong fascination for this landscape is a result of her life’s annual recurring visits to this area.
In 2020 she obtained her Bachelor degree in Fine Arts and Design Teacher Training at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. During this, she spent a semester on exchange to Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles in the Painting Department. She spent the following three years teaching Art in High Schools in the Netherlands. Currently Karlijn is pursuing an MFA at Sint Lucas in Antwerp.
